Well a huge thank you from me to everybody who supported the sale on Saturday. I had no idea it would be quite so manic, nearly everything sold out in 20 minutes (the last few pieces will be live here until Friday when it closes). I have finished wrapping and dispatching everything and so it is all on its way. I apologise in advance if it smells very strongly of roses. The youngest was keen to be involved so I gave him the job of spritzing the tissue. He was a little over generous with my Jo Malone!
So, I haven’t yet done the maths to see what the donation to Bloodwise will be but it will be a lovely transfer to make on my birthday. I’m sorry that I gave such short notice. It took a long time and work to develop a secure shopfront so I wasn’t sure that it would be ready until the night before. For anyone who was disappointed, I will definitely run these sales regularly now that I have everything set up.
In the end as so many of you have said, it benefits everyone. I am happy that the clothes I find hard to part with are going to people who appreciate them. If I keep refreshing my wardrobe, it means I can continue to show you relevant, current clothes on Midlifechic. You get lightly worn clothing at a great price and we can help to fight blood cancers whilst we’re at it.
Because I’ve been so busy steaming, ironing and wrapping, I only have time for a quick post today which gives me a chance to show you some of the random things I’ve been bookmarking recently. Here we go, let’s start with Summer shoes.
The Feel Good Ballet Flat
LK Bennett have been working with Women For Women International to create a limited edition range of ballet flats. The hearts have been hand embroidered by women in Kosovo and 100% of the sales proceeds go to the charity. You can read more about it here.
Available in pink leather and navy or silver glitter, they’re a lovely shoe for summer with a feel good factor. LK Bennett currently have 25% off if you spend over £300 using code SAVE25 at checkout.
The simple tassel sandal
These are so minimal that they make feet look dainty. Perfect for holidays, they go with every colour and would work for day or evening.
The easy wedge espadrille
This Summer’s trend for espadrilles can’t have escaped you, they’re everywhere. Gold is a great neutral and the metallic thread means that they won’t get as grubby as ordinary cotton versions. They will work well with both jeans and Summer dresses.
The tassel earrings
This has to be the simplest way to be on trend this Summer. Just wear a pair of tassel earrings and keep the rest of your jewellery to a minimum.
The holiday necklace
Lots of people really liked the bangle I wore for the Blog Awards so I just thought I’d let you know that there is also a necklace and earrings. It’s from a collection that looks much more expensive than it is. I currently have the bangle in gold, the earrings in silver and I am very tempted to buy this to wear on holiday to dress up simple necklines in the evenings.
Crease collar necklace (available in gold or silver)
The simple Summer skirt
I noticed this skirt when I was down in London a couple of weeks ago. There’s nothing new about an airy pleated midi skirt, they’re everywhere – but these are the best price:quality that I’ve seen. I like the way that the pleats stop towards the bottom which makes it very fluid (and easier to care for). Colours include pink, cream, green and navy.

The great value beach collection
Now this isn’t somewhere that I usually shop. However, I remember finding great pieces when I was researching my holiday packing posts in June last year but they were already completely sold out. So, I’m bringing them to you early. It’s hard to find beach dresses that aren’t too ‘baby doll’ but these are all a great length.
This is from the beach collection which is why I think it is so well priced but you could easily wear this for sightseeing or shopping at a market. It is made from viscose which is a semi-synthetic fabric. It is usually derived from bamboo but undergoes a chemical process. It is not quite as cool to wear as cotton or linen but it is much better than polyester and it packs well.
You could wear this over your bikini for lunch or even wear it out in the evening. It’s also available in black or coral.
This is lovely and it’s reduced to £18.99 with all sizes currently available.
The travel sized beauty collection
It’s always a pleasure to take special toiletries away with you but it can be hard to find sizes that you can take in carry on hand luggage. However I’ve tracked some little luxuries down.
Diptyque – the art of bodycare collection
Happily, John Lewis have launched a whole department dedicated to Travel Size Beauty so you can browse through the others there.
And that, my friends, is today’s edit. I’ll be looking at holiday packing again on Friday when I have challenged myself to create a capsule holiday wardrobe from a single retailer. Until then, enjoy the rest of your week – and one last time, thank you for Saturday.
