So, the discounts are starting to rain down. I’ll be bringing you details of the Best Winter Sales 2016 in my next few posts. I’m starting with the ones that I know have limited stock and the opportunity for pre-Christmas delivery so that Midlifechic readers can get in there first!
Best Winter Sales 2016 – Hope
First of all I bring you Hope whose sale site has just gone live. As you know, there is a feel good factor about buying from Hope. The majority of clothes are British made and it is also a small company run by women over 40 for women over 40.
I know the range well and I’ve picked out what I think are the best pieces…and they are all half price. Starting with a top that will be perfect for Christmas but will also look great for a Summer barbecue.
Silver lurex top 50% off
Moving on to this raw cut sleeveless coat which you can wear over a dress like this, but which also looks great over slim cut trousers. It’s made from a heavy jersey that almost feels like neoprene so it has the weight you need to make it hang well.
Long line waistcoat (also available in dark grey) 50% off
This relaxed blue jumper with a touch of cashmere is perfect for Winter weekends. Use it to lift black, grey or navy outfits.
Funnel neck jumper 50% off
Now, thinking about starting to prepare your ‘Summer box’, I wore this linen cardigan lots over the Summer and you can style it in different ways.
Watermelon linen cardigan 50% off
I featured these silk trousers in my Chic Buys of 2016 last week and they are now half price – be quick!
Slate blue silk lounge pants 50% off
Moving on from Hope, I’ve tried to find investment pieces that are not trend led (there are so many cold shoulder tops in the sale it makes your eyes ache). People often ask where they can buy the burgundy Chelsea boots I wear.
Best Winter Sales 2016 – accessories
Unfortunately they are 2 years old but there is a very similar pair here. It’s the low heel that makes them look good (and comfortable to wear)
Burgundy jodhpur boots (also available in black) 35% off
This jumper has become a classic. Trust me, by January 2nd you will be sick of sequins and you will feel like wearing something fresh and Spring-like.
Stripe cuff knit (40% off)
Another item I am often asked about is my bright bucket bag which is something I have had in my wardrobe for a long time. It felt like a crazy purchase when I bought it but I use it a lot to lift otherwise plain outfits.
This is similar and in the sale.
Drawstring bag 30% off
We have talked a lot about the power of unusual bags this season. Here are two more that are now good value.
Ponyskin clutch with detachable strap 30% off

Best Winter Sales – Jaeger
The best winter sale I have come across so far is Jaeger. If you are feeling that you have grown out of Boden but don’t know quite where to turn, this is the place. The new design director is introducing a pared down aesthetic and the sale is very, very strong. You saw me try this coat when I went down to take part in their Instagram campaign. It’s beautiful and it is now almost half price.
Wool cashmere blend collarless coat 45% off
This simple, collarless coat comes in 3 colours and has great reviews.
Wool collarless coat 45% off
I tried this one in the shop and it was another favourite. Conker or rust has been a big trend this season because it works so well with black, grey and navy. It will be even bigger next Winter when all shades of brown start to make a comeback.
Conker wool coat 45% off
I’ve featured this dress before. I tried it in store. It’s stunning. It’s now less than half price but I have absolutely no excuse to buy it. Please somebody do – and tell me you have in the comments!
Cross back dress 60% off also available in black
These wool trousers have a great zip detail at the ankle making them stand apart from the norm.
Slim leg wool trousers 40% off
If you’re feeling more daring, go for the cropped kick flare.
Cropped kick flare trousers 45% off also available in burgundy or lime green
This is a really cool Scandi aesthetic. You could wear it at the weekend but it is so smart you could also wear it in place of an ordinary black jumper with black trousers and heels in the office.
Cord tie top 40% off
Cashmere is always a good sale buy. The detail on this jumper raises it above a standard V neck. It is also available in other colours and there is lots of other great knitwear in the knitwear sale here.
Cashmere double trim sweater 30% off also available in warm navy and black
The accessories are a good choice for style and quality. This hobo bag with its chic chrome trim is just one of many in the handbag sale.
Leather bucket bag 50% off
So, there we go, the first of my sale posts. I’m rushing off now because it is the eldest’s birthday tomorrow so there is much cake baking to be done. I’ll be back soon with sale updates and Christmas joy!
Disclosure – Best Winter Sales 2016 is not a sponsored post, it is simply my edit of the best things I’ve seen to date.
