Ok, so we all agreed that the culottes didn’t work and they went back (the post is here in all its glory if you’re a new reader). However I am still determined to diversify from jeans a bit more and so today I’m revealing a whole new trouser pleasure: loose cut, light fabric, elasticated waist(!) – what can you not love about these. Apart from the fact (for me anyway) that Mr MC definitely doesn’t love them. He doesn’t loathe them as much as the ‘sports luxe’ pair (first seen here) and in fact they made him smile all day…but not for the right reasons. They’re relaxed flowy trousers from Mango and are now in the sale, reduced from £34.99 to £19.99. Here they are:
They even have a flattering tuxedo style stripe down the side which is slimming on the legs:
I didn’t want to frighten the family too much for a first wear so I teamed them with a simple navy long sleeved t-shirt from Gap, an old Boden necklace and Boden pointed slingbacks. However, I did try working the clashing prints trend with my floral Warehouse sweatshirt and I really liked the effect – will debut it here soon. I may also purchase the top that goes with them so that I can wear them matchy matchy / jumpsuit style but I want it to be reduced a bit more in the sale first (currently £16.99):
The high point was when the 17 year old came home and, unprompted, said “sick trousers Mum” which removed Mr MC’s smile temporarily – until the middle one ruined the moment by muttering that he’d been wondering why I was wearing pyjamas! Anyway today is a good day. At midnight we will collect the smallest one from the port – he will undoubtedly be tired and grumpy, smell really bad and have a suitcase full of dirty wet clothes but I will be SO pleased to see him.
Let me know if you’ve found a chic alternative to jeans for the warmer weather, thanks to your comments from the last few posts I’ve been encouraged to try Matalan, Wallis, Laura Ashley and White Stuff – all places I haven’t looked at for ages . Have a great weekend everyone.
