Well my last post seemed to go down well so here’s part two of what I’ve been wearing during the Easter holidays. Just as well because my chances of going anywhere near any clothes shops during these two weeks are zero. Spring has finally arrived in the Lakes over the last few days and of course, with the daffodils out, we’re all feeling very lucky and ‘Wordsworthian.’
Mr MC has been working like a dervish to hit lots of deadlines – a typical creative, he gets his best ideas when he’s burning the midnight oil so he’s been putting in 20 hour days. These times used to be quite lonely when the boys were little and I was on my own with them for hours on end but now they’re older they’re usually good company so it’s not as bad.
Anyway here’s my outfit round up: on Saturday Mr MC and I were determined to catch a quick half hour together so we sneaked a coffee on the beach on the way back from Homebase.
- Denim Shirt: Gap
- Cashmilon crew neck jumper: M&S (out of stock)
- Quilted bomber Jacket: Warehouse (out of stock)
- Jeans: Next
- Boots: Boden (similar)
- Necklace: Boden (old)
- Bag: Cath Kidston (old)
- Bangles: Accessorize (old)
Although I’m a big cashmere fan, I also really like cashmilon from M&S. It’s a love/hate thing but firstly it’s really warm (I guess that;s the joy of synthetics) and they cut the jumpers really well on the shoulders – if you look carefully you can see that the seam goes horizontally down the arm (a bit like a fisherman’s jumper) which is more flattering than a shoulder seam.
Sunday and I had to do my bit and go to the village parish council AGM – it really is like living in the Archers sometimes! It was freezing (in fact colder inside the Church Hall than outside) so I was glad I’d wrapped up. This Donna Karan cashmere jumper is one of the most beautiful things I own and yes, it dates back to my Selfridges days. It cost about £300 after discount (plus ca change)! but it is so beautifully made – it has no seams.
- Cashmere Jumper – Donna Karan Mainline (vintage!)
- Jacket – Hobbs (last season)
- Cigarette Pants – Banana Republic (old)
- Sixties Mary Janes – Boden (last season)
Monday was a tearing your hair out, working form home, hitting deadlines whilst breaking up fights sort of day – no pics, sorry!
Yesterday we went for a picnic with some of our best friends. The boys all played tennis / cricket / football whilst the mums got through two bottles of prosecco and found world peace!
- Long sleeved t-shirt: Boden (old)
- Cashmere cardigan: Boden
- Jeans: Next
- Silver pumps: Boden (ancient)
- Necklace: Schoolgate Style (out of stock)
Today has been a day of dentist’s appointments and school uniform buying along with a bit of a mooch at the farmers’ market and an amazing hog roast lunch. The smallest boy was keen to be creative with his photography today – at least it gives you a change from the white wall!
- Bowery t-shirt: Gap
- Capri jeans: Zara (old)
- Blue pointed pumps: Johnnie B
- Necklace: Boden (old)
- Sunglasses: Chanel
- Blazer: Whistles
- Bag: Autograph, M&S (out of stock)
This weekend holds my brother-in-law’s 50th birthday party over in Newcastle and a catch up with the rest of Mr MC’s side of the family. I don’t know if you’re familiar with Geordie culture but they certainly know how to celebrate their life events. Whether they’re christenings, weddings or even funerals they’re generally pretty wild! We were supposed to be going over tomorrow but Mr MC is still surgically attached to his Mac so I think it might be Friday now. That, at least, gives me more time to think about what to wear – the ladies will be uber-glam in true Cheryl Cole style so I’ll have to up my game! Back with an update after the Easter weekend – Happy Easter everyone, I hope you have a fabulous bank holiday break. Don’t forget to say hello in the comment box – I’ve been missing sane adult company this week!
