Hello – I wasn’t going to post today but then the final reductions at Boden and Hush popped into my inbox. I’ve looked through them with a will of cast iron and these pieces are either new to the sale or further reduced. I think they are worth a second look.
Boden – newly added to clearance
My absolute number one is these Sienna sandals. Metallics are so easy to wear with anything that they’re especially good for holiday packing. You can reduce the number of shoes you need to take down to one. They are now half price and I’m finding them really hard to resist.
They’re equally as good in silver
Round sunglasses have been this season’s eyewear trend. With their unusual grey tortoiseshell frame, these Selma sunglasses will take you through to sunny Winter days too. Now half price.
I’ve already recommended this Maldives swimsuit, it’s the one I’ve bought for my holiday and it’s great for anyone who is a C cup or below. The higher neck will give your décolleté a break from the sun’s harsh rays. Now half price – grrr!
These smarter Richmond shorts have a smooth Italian chic to them, making them work well for women over 40, they’re wearable for smart destinations or cruises. All colour ways are reduced, some are less than half price.
I also have these Chino shorts for more casual days on the beach. In my view they work best in the two shorter lengths; the longer 9 inch leg is a bit baggy. All colours are reduced, many are less than half price.
Somehow I’ve overlooked these Georgia sandals, a smarter version of a flip flop, they’re now heavily reduced.
A great casual dress for throwing on when the sun shines, the Blackberry dress is now also half price in many colours. The blue or green wide deckchair stripes are the most on trend for this season.
The Sophia shirt dress is easy to throw on and you can change its look easily with a different belt which makes it a dress up or dress down piece.
Finally from Boden, these simple pieces will see you through to the Autumn
This linen tee is great for days when it’s warm but the sun doesn’t quite shine – the UK’s Summer 2016 basically
This popover shirt dress will go through to the Autumn, imagine it worn with boots and a slim polo neck underneath – I’d opt for the longer length though
And lastly cashmere – you don’t need me to tell you how great a cashmere crew is. Size up for a looser, more luxurious look and remember that the colours of your spice rack (chilli, paprika, saffron, turmeric, cumin, coriander…) are the key palette for next season so that’s the way to go. Some colours are half price.
Hush final reductions
Moving on to Hush’s final call. There isn’t a lot left but how about these pieces?
Firstly the Winona trousers. Now these are in the Autumn/Winter lookbook so they’re carrying them through to next season. Perhaps they’ve tweaked the design but they look very similar, a good buy at less than half price but only a few sizes left.
The Sophie top is an easy way to dress up jeans, it has sold out in most colours but there is good availability in the navy and it is less than half price
If I was heading off on a holiday later in the year when evenings are a bit cooler, I would definitely take this Cleo dress. It would look great with simple black, tan or metallic heeled sandals and some gold jewellery.
I still love this Grecian top after seeing it at the Hush Pop Up Shop. I haven’t ordered it yet because I was hoping for a bigger reduction but it would be a great Summer staple.
I have, however, ordered this frayed linen dress as a beach cover up replacement for the Grecian dress. It occurred to me that the white trim on the Grecian dress wasn’t going to react well with suncream so I’ll save it for evenings and wear this over my striped bikinis instead.
And finally some trans seasonal pieces. You may remember I tried these wide leg trousers in cream a few months ago but they were slightly transparent. They are quite a heavy weight and hung well so the navy would be a good choice at less than half price.
I like this sheer Nora cardi, it would look great worn over a linen t-shirt or a silky cami, again a simple extra layer for grey Summer days.
And lastly nothing beats a slogan sweatshirt with a pair of jeans on a relaxed Sunday – thinking ahead this would even work as a chic Christmas jumper too. Hush are carrying the ‘C’est si bon’ slogan through to their AW range but I think this Summer sweatshirt is nicer then the version to come – buy ahead, stay on trend!
So, there you go, wise buys of the day. Now I must get on with what I was supposed to be doing – spreadsheets – much less fun. Keep in touch.
