…and I’ve run out of time. I had planned a post for today but sadly my brother-in-law’s mum died last week so today has been her funeral. No funeral is a happy event but she was 94 and so we were able to talk about a life well lived and appreciate her. We were all together in the village church that she loved and it was yet another timely reminder about the importance of family and spending time together.
Tonight will be a complete change of mood and the culmination of weeks of practice for our village choir as we perform at the carol service. I will be doing my best to hit the top notes of the descant in “O Come All Ye Faithful” and that for me is the moment when Christmas truly begins.
Thank you to everyone who has sent messages about the weather. I managed to get away from work yesterday just before the road was flooded otherwise I would quite literally have been stuck for the night. I think the Christmas wish of everybody in Cumbria is that it will stop raining before the Lake District turns into one big lake.
I will be posting between Christmas and New Year so keep your eyes peeled but for a few days now I’m logging off. I just want to say an enormous thank you to all of you for reading my blog this year. I feel as though I’ve made so many new friends of all ages and also that between us, we’re starting to raise the profile of women over 40. I’m leaving you with a picture of my outfit for tonight, the dress code for the choir is quite simply ‘Christmas jumpers’ but it will be cold so I’m teaming mine with faux fur.
I wish you a wonderful Christmas surrounded by the people that you love. I’ll be back soon with some thoughts about heading into the new year.
